MICROSOFT
INTERNET MAIL
WINDOWS
At this time, the Windows 95 version of MS Internet Mail
does not offer configuration for multiple accounts. Therefore,
the only way to use more than one account is to change the
mail settings each time you want to switch accounts.
- Open Microsoft Internet Mail (Start Button -> Programs
-> Internet Mail)
- Click on Mail and choose Options..., then click on the
Server tab
- Change the following settings for each of your accounts:
- Name (this is your real name)
- Organization (optional)
- Email Address (login@netins.net)
- POP3 Account (that's your login)
- Password (that's your password)
- Click on OK
Notes:
- The Skip Logon command is unavailable if there
is more than one Internet Mail account set up on this computer.
- Once you've set up Internet Mail for multiple users, to
log on as a different user, just quit Internet Mail, and
then log on again with a different user name and password.
You do not need to shut down your computer, or disconnect
from the Internet, to log on as a different Internet Mail
user.

EUDORA
LIGHT
WINDOWS
Eudora Light is a freeware mail program available at Eudora.com.
To allow multiple users to use Eudora on the same PC, make
a separate mail directory and create a separate program manager
icon for each user. The directories can be named whatever
you like and placed anywhere, including floppies or network
volumes. Place a copy of the Eudora.ini in each user's directory.
To tell Eudora which directory to use, specify that directory
on the command line of the Program Item properties dialog
box as shown in the examples below:
c:\eudora\eudora.exe c:\user1
c:\eudora\eudora.exe c:\user2
Then in the working directory field, set the path to that
user's directory
c:\user1\
c:\user2\
Then each user will have his or her own location for mailboxes
and user settings.

MACINTOSH
Internet
Mail and News 1.1
Internet Mail and News 1.1 includes multi-user support,
allowing users to create individual preferences and switch
users on the fly without having to perform a complex work
around.
To set up multiple users:
- On the Edit menu, choose Switch User.
- Click New
- Type in a name for the new user and click OK. A user folder
for the new user is created and Internet Mail and News switches
to this folder.
- From the Edit menu, choose Preferences.
- In the Mail Server tab, enter the mail server information
for this user.
- Select Ask For Password On Startup if you want this user
to enter their POP password before the startup process completes
and the user's mail is visible.
- In the News Server tab, enter the news server information
for this user.
- Click OK
Once multiple users are set up, the Switch User dialog box
will appear when the application is started and the user will
need to choose their name from the list. If the user selected
has the password preference on, a Password dialog box will
appear and the POP password will need to be typed before proceeding.
When you create a new user, a folder with the user's name
is added to the IMN User(s) folder in the Internet Mail and
News application folder. Each user folder contains that following:
Address Book, Internet Mail, Internet Mail and News Prefs,
and Internet News.
Internet Config Users: If you are using Internet
Config, use it as a template for the information that all
users will share, such as the news server. Since the information
entered in Internet Config will appear as the default information
in the preferences dialog box for all new users, do not enter
any information that is specific to one user. Internet Config
is a third-party application that enables Internet applications
to share preferences.
For more information on setting up Internet Mail and New
for multiple users, choose Internet Mail and News Help from
the Help menu, and then click the Setup Servers and Internet
Config link.

Eudora
MACINTOSH
You can do the following with any version of Eudora for
the Macintosh:
- Run Eudora and configure it for one user as described
in the "Getting Started" section of the Eudora User Manual.
- Quit Eudora
- Drag the Eudora Folder out of the System Folder and onto
another location on the hard disk (it doesn't matter where).
- Replace it with an empty TeachText file called Eudora
Folder (this step prevents another Eudora Folder from being
created in the System Folder in the future).
- You may now rename the Eudora Folder anything you want,
including the name of an individual.
- Then, make a copy of it and give the copy another name
(this can be done for as many users as necessary).
Each user now has their own personal mail folder and can
launch their copy of Eudora by double-clicking on the Eudora
Settings file in their own folder (an alias to that settings
file also works well). Remember that, upon first starting
Eudora, each user must change the POP account information
to reflect their own POP account address.
