"PreDNS" functionality allows you to preview how your site will look on Aureon servers before we change the DNS records to direct public Internet traffic to it.
If you are moving from one web hosting company to another, this is how you can make sure everything looks the way it should before making the cutover.
For FTP, your login name and password remain the same. The servername, however, will change from ftp.yourdomain.ext to 167.142.225.110.
(Replace the "domain.ext" portion of that address with your website's domain name)
If you wish to see what your site would look like before DNS is pointed to it, you may visit it at:
http://preview.netins.net
...to see what it will look like after DNS is completed.
You will be able to use FTP by specifying the server ftp.netins.net and your username and password, as provided on the settings emails you recieved from us.
Once you've uploaded your content, you can visit:
http://ssl206.securefastssl.com/domain.ext
If you intend to keep DNS for your domain hosted someplace other than Aureon, this is information you can use to point those alternative DNS servers at our services for your account. DNS is an included part of our hosting services, but there are instances when it is appropriate to have it hosted elsewhere. This would typically mean that you are keeping some level of service active at a 3rd-party provider.
If you have questions about this process, please email our Webmaster Team at webmaster@netins.net
IMPORTANT: These DNS records are what you'll need to make Aureon Hosting Services work. If you currently have DNS records that manage other services (like an email server or some other server that is on the web) that Aureon does not provide, do not remove them.
For a smoother DNS transition, you can lower the Time To Live (TTL) of your domain to a shorter interval (5 minutes is suggested) 48 hours before DNS records are changed. This will ensure the Internet as a whole learns of the changes more quickly.
